The problem
A kart design only matters once it can be bought, made and put together on a student budget and schedule.
A decision I made
Source and design together: compare suppliers and materials while the design can still change, and let that data simplify the parts.
What I built
- Set up the organization, leadership, budget and purchasing as treasurer.
- Led CAD to manufacturing: design for manufacturability, fabrication and test planning.
- Built a data-driven sourcing strategy, comparing suppliers and materials to cut material cost.
- Owned the build schedule and the hand-offs between subsystems.
- Helped secure the team's funding and establish it as a club with the university.
